Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for San Juan, Puerto Rico!

From local cuisine, salsa, and historical sites to big casino payoffs, Puerto Rico's San Juan serves as a gateway to varied island-style getaway allure. No passports or visas are required for United States citizens who enter and exit the island without going through immigration or customs. Heightened security precautions, however, mean that adequate identification can help avoid delay. More than 7,000 guest rooms, many quite luxurious, await at this island commonwealth capital that uses the U.S. dollar, also referred to as the peso. Old San Juan, with colonial Spanish architecture and quaint cobblestone-paved streets, is the most charming part of the city, teeming with dining, shopping and exploration options. Narrow passageways make Old San Juan best navigated on foot for discovery of tiny bars or secluded open-air cafés. El Morro, a 16th-century fortress with arabesque towers is an eye-catcher. Plaza San Jose, an especially popular gathering spot, is typically more peaceful than Plaza Colon, site of a famed statue of Christopher Columbus. Exclusive shops and boutiques carry such names as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and Mont Blanc. San Juan's Plaza Las Américas is the Caribbean's largest shopping center with more than 150 stores. Puerto Rican taste treats range from traditional dishes to contemporary "nuevo criollo" cuisine, and Old San Juan has everything from caviar pizza to favorites "de la tierra" (from the land) like Tostones (fried green plantains). Newer San Juan glitters with resorts and casinos, including gaming action at assorted locations such as the Casino at The Ritz-Carlton, the largest in Puerto Rico, and the Stellaris Casino at the San Juan Marriott Resort. Nightclubs and discothèques beckon and the Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré has an experimental theater and a festival hall in Santurce. The historic circa 1832 Teatro Tapia hosts varied cultural events. For outdoors diversion, El Yunque rainforest awaits with mountain hiking trails. Isla de Cabra (Goat Island) is a retreat-like setting along rocky seashores. All that remains of a 19th century leper colony lies on the north coast ruins, whereas the southern portion has ruins of Fuerte del Canuelo dating to 1610.
